Develop a Color and Finish for the Packaging Material
Cavoriq supports custom colors and surface finishes for plastic, acrylic, glass and selected aluminum cosmetic packaging. Options may include molded color, transparent or translucent color, spray coating, frosting, matte or glossy finishes and selected metallic effects.
The final appearance depends on more than a color code. The base material, wall thickness, container transparency, surface texture and production process can all change how a color appears. The same Pantone reference may look different on clear PET, frosted glass, opaque PP or a metallic aluminum bottle.
Before sampling, buyers should confirm the packaging type, material, target color, surface effect, order quantity and intended Logo process. These details help determine whether the color should be molded into the material or applied as a secondary surface treatment.
Molded Colors for Plastic Packaging
Molded color is created by adding color during plastic production. It is commonly considered for PET, PETG, PP, PE and selected acrylic components, depending on the mold and material structure.
Available effects may include:
- Transparent or tinted color
- Translucent color
- Opaque molded color
- Solid cap or closure colors
- Coordinated inner and outer components
Molded color can be practical for repeat bulk orders because the color is part of the component rather than a coating on its surface. However, transparency, resin characteristics and wall thickness may affect the final shade.
Buyers should approve a physical sample rather than relying only on a digital screen or printed color reference. Material and capacity should also be confirmed first through our Material and Capacity Options page.
Spray Coating, Frosting and Decorative Finishes
Surface treatments are selected according to the material, required appearance and packaging structure. Available project-based options may include:
- Matte or glossy spray coating
- Transparent or opaque coating
- Frosted glass appearance
- Gradient or partial coating
- Metallic or pearl effects
- Selected metallization
- Soft visual finishes for premium skincare packaging
Not every process is suitable for every container. Bottle curvature, recessed areas, component assembly and contact points can affect coating coverage. Pumps, collars, caps and jars may also use different substrates, which means a complete packaging set can require separate color confirmation.
For packaging that also requires printing or hot stamping, the finish must be reviewed together with the Logo Printing and Decoration process. The surface should support the required ink or foil adhesion.
Color Samples and Pre-production Approval
A Pantone reference, physical product sample or approved color chip can be used as the starting point. Buyers should also provide information about transparency, gloss level, metallic effect and acceptable visual variation.
Custom color samples generally require 7–12 days, depending on the material, finish and packaging structure. Additional time may be needed when several components must be matched or when the first trial requires adjustment.
The approved sample becomes the reference for bulk production. Approval should cover:
- Color under suitable lighting
- Transparency or opacity
- Matte, glossy or frosted effect
- Coating coverage and uniformity
- Matching between bottle, pump, cap and jar
- Logo position and decoration compatibility
- Visible variation between different materials
The complete Sample Development and Approval process should be completed before customized mass production begins.
Quality Checks During Bulk Production
Color and finish inspection can include comparison with the approved sample, coating uniformity, gloss consistency, scratches, dust, exposed areas, visible marks and variation between components.
Decoration checks may include Logo position, printing clarity, hot-stamping coverage and adhesion. Final AQL inspection and packing checks are performed according to the confirmed order requirements.
Coated, frosted and metallic surfaces may need PE sleeves, trays, dividers or individual boxes to reduce scratching during transport. Export protection should therefore be confirmed together with the finish rather than after production.
MOQ, Lead Time and Quotation Details
Standard customized orders are commonly around 5,000 pieces. Special colors, multiple matched components, complex coating or metallic finishes may require higher quantities.
Standard mass production normally takes 25–35 days after sample approval and deposit. Complex finishes or peak-season orders may require 35–50 days.
For a quotation, please provide the packaging model, material, capacity, quantity, Pantone reference, transparency, gloss level, required finish, Logo artwork, component colors, packing request and destination.
